Why Fundraising Matters

As a Booster Club, we are a registered nonprofit organization with both the IRS and the State. With that comes certain responsibilities and expenses—from required filings and taxes to the basic costs associated with operating the organization.

Participation fees for Marching Band, Color Guard, Winter Guard, and Winter Percussion cover only a portion of the total cost of supporting these programs. Fundraising helps bridge that gap and allows us to keep participation fees as affordable as possible for all families. Without fundraising, fees would need to increase significantly to cover these costs.

Just as importantly, we never want a family's ability to pay to prevent a student from participating. One of our goals as a Booster Club is to make these programs accessible to every student who wants to be involved. Fundraising plays an important role in helping us do that.

We also recognize that fundraising is not one-size-fits-all. What works well for one family may not work for another. Some people are great at selling Butter Braids, while others may prefer programs like RaiseRight, which allows extended family members—grandparents, aunts, uncles, and others—to participate and help generate earnings.

That's why we work to offer a variety of fundraising opportunities throughout the year, giving families different ways to participate based on what works best for them.

And we're always looking for new ideas! If you know of a fundraiser, partnership, event, or creative opportunity that you think could benefit our organization, please let us know. We're happy to explore new ideas and try something different.

Every fundraiser, every volunteer, and every contribution helps us work toward the same goal: keeping these programs affordable, accessible, and available to all of our students.
